CAPE COD, Mass. (Dec. 16) – Senior offensive tackle Brandt Genga (Middletown, R.I.) has been named to the ECAC Division III Northeast All-Star Team, it was announced Wednesday. Genga, a three-time All-NEFC Boyd Division and two-time All-Worcester Area honoree, served as co-captain of the Bison in 2009.
Genga earned All-NEFC Boyd Division Second Team accolades in his rookie season, and was named to the First Team in each of the past two seasons. A four-year starter, Genga is a tough, gritty player who anchored the offensive line as the go-to puller.
At 6-4, 260, he has been the dominant force on the line, garnering All-Worcester Area Second Team honors in 2008 and 2009. He helped the Bison to the fewest sacks against in 2006 (eight), and in 2007 paved the way for running back Robert Morris (Melbourne, Fla.) to rank eighth in the nation in rushing yards per game (135.8). In 2008, Genga anchored the o-line to the NEFC Boyd Division’s fourth-fewest sacks allowed and ensured the Bison the most rushing yards since 2004. This past season, he was key for the Bison’s potent pass game that set records for attempts and completions.
Genga is a business management major and the son of John and Jayne.
