Nichols College Athletics

Bob Martin enters his sixth season behind the Nichols bench after getting the program started in 2003. Martin coached the Bison to two victories in their first season as a varsity program in 2008-09 as a member of the ECAC East Women’s Hockey League. Since 2003, the team has had significant growth from 12 players to a full 26 player roster. For the previous four seasons, Nichols had competed in the ACHA (American Collegiate Hockey Association) and during that time grew from the bottom of the conference to one of the top nine teams in the country.

"The team has done an excellent job growing from a club program to where it is today. I’m looking forward to working with this team as we move into the future," says Martin.

Coach Martin was apart of a committee who developed the ACHA’s Women’s Division I and Division II leagues. He also was apart of the national ranking committee. “The ACHA was a great stepping stone for our program and we thank them for allowing us to be apart of it,” says Martin.

Coach Martin began his coaching career at Becker College in Worcester, MA where he started the men’s program and successfully ran the program for five seasons. During his five years at Becker he lead them from an 0-3 record in 1999 to a 10-4 record in his last year with the Hawks.

Coach Martin graduated from Becker with an A.S. and B.S. in Sport Management. He currently resides in Ashford, CT and is the Associate Director of Admissions at Nichols. College College
