Sub-Committees
Fundraising: Organize events to raise money for the Nichols College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Funds are used to support SAAC, allowing for contests, prizes, and giveaways during all Nichols College athletic events.
Fan Support: Create ideas to increase attendance at competitions, encourage positive sportsmanship from fans, and maintain an overall enjoyable experience for players, coaches and spectators.
Community Service: SAAC is planning trips to the Boys and Girls Club for Big Brother Big Sister. We are also working on Nichols Reads. The men's Ice Hockey and Golf team participated in the Family Reading Night at the Boys and Girls Club. It was a great turnout!
Marketing: We had a great turnout with Take a Kid to the Game Day at the homecoming football game. A lot of kids came to get their faces painted and they made signs for the players. Also, during half time, the kids had a lot of fun kicking field goals at half time!
Bison Benevolence
The field hockey team is selling bracelets and raising money for Play 4 the Cure.
Student-Athlete Acts of Kindness
The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee is in the process of organizing a Toys for Tots drive as we approach the holiday season. Each student-athlete has been asked to donate $1 which SAAC members will use to purchase toys for less fortunate children.
Events
This past month we had our second annual Herd Rally, which included a lip-synching contest for all athletic teams. This has become a really popular event and this year the Football team took home the award while lip-synching The Jackson 5 and N'sync! Next month is Bison Madness come and support yourteams!
Competition Cup
To win the competition cup, there are six categories that are taken into consideration; athlete’s supporting athletes, community service, SAAC participation cultural enrichment, team GPA, and above and beyond. The Spring 2009 winner was the Men’s Basketball team! Congratulations!
