Our Athletic Training room is located in the Chalmers Field House, just off of the all-purpose courts and aerobics room. The Athletic Training room is open to intercollegiate athletic team members, coaches, and support staff only. Availability and accessibility to the Athletic Training room, team physician, and all other medical resources are based on established medical criteria (e.g., injury rates, rehabilitation).
Mission Statement
The Nichols College Athletic Training staff is committed to enhancing the quality of health care for varsity student-athletes through the prevention, evaluation, management and rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses. We are committed to developing and maintaining appropriate athletic training facilities and to staff these facilities with highly qualified and motivated personnel whose foundation is built on the utmost ethical standards
Athletic Training Room Hours
Monday-Friday
Opens at 9am and will remain open based on the practice/game schedules for the in-season varsity athletic teams. The Athletic Training room will open one-hour prior to a practice, and two hours prior to a game for home and visiting teams, and will remain open for one hour after the event ends.
All evaluations, treatments and rehabilitation are to be done between 9am and 2:30pm Monday-Friday. After 2:30pm, the Athletic Training room functions solely to ready in-season teams for practices/games. Those student-athletes requesting evaluations of old injuries or the use of electrical modalities at this time will be refused.
Saturday-Sunday
Hours will be dependent on in-season team practices/game schedules.
During campus breaks and similar times during the academic year, the Athletic Training room may only be open during specific hours for pre-practice treatments and taping of teams that are officially practicing.
Club, Intramural & Non-Traditional Teams
Club and intramural teams are not covered by the Sports Medicine staff, but will be treated for first aid and referred for appropriate care if needed.
Teams practicing during their non-traditional season will not be a priority and may be asked to allow in-season student-athletes to be treated first. Due to staffing limitations, non-traditional teams may not have on-site coverage for practices. Arrangements will need to be made through the Director of Sports Medicine for appropriate medical coverage prior to game dates.
