Commissioner of the ECAC Rudy Keeling announced Tuesday that seven members of the Nichols College men’s ice hockey team have been named to the ECAC Northeast All-Academic team for the 2009-10 season. This marks the ninth year that the conference has named an All-Academic team. Nichols College first year forward Zach Kohn (Hartland, Wis.) has been named the ECAC Northeast Hockey League Rookie of the Year, it was announced today by Commissioner of the ECAC Rudy Keeling. Nichols College senior forward Zeke Costello (Shelby Township, Mich.) has been named the ECAC Northeast Hockey League Player of the Week for games ending Sunday, February 21. Costello led Nichols to an unbeaten week with seven points on a goal and six assists. The Curry College men’s hockey team scored three third period goals to break open the game in a 5-1 ECAC Northeast victory over Nichols College Monday afternoon. The game, which was the only game in all of college hockey today, was rescheduled from February 10th due to snow. The Colonels improve to 16-5-1 overall and 10-1-1 in conference games to maintain first place in the standings. Nichols drops to 12-9-2 overall and 6-6-0 in league play, remaining in a three-way tie for fourth place with two games left on the season. The Nichols College Men’s Hockey team fell to the Suffolk University Rams 7-1 Saturday afternoon at home. The conference loss brings Nichols record to 12-8-2 and 6-5-0 in the conference. The win puts Suffolk’s record at 10-10-3 and 6-4-2 in the conference.
