DUDLEY, Mass. (June 4) – A total of 31 student-athletes from Nichols College were named to the 2011-12 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Academic All-Conference Team, it was announced Friday by Commissioner Gregg M. Kaye. Nichols increased its honorees from 24 in 2010-11 and 20 in 2009-10.

Of Nichols' honorees, four earned Academic All-Conference honors for the third time, including dual-sport student-athlete Emily Yourie, who, while majoring in marketing, participated in women's basketball and lacrosse. Valedictorian and men's tennis CCC Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year Steve Carella and women's soccer standout Kate Dyson both pursued a double major in finance and accounting while earning the honor three times. Chelsey Miller had a standout women's tennis career while majoring in business management with three-time honors.

Also impressive were 13 two-time honorees, including field hockey student-athlete Emily Widdison, who majors in finance and accounting as well as graduate student Kaitlyn DiBuono, who while setting women's soccer records on the field, pursued an MBA in security management.

The most represented major among Nichols' honorees was sport management, followed by marketing and accounting. There were six double majors honored. The women's tennis team had six honorees and the women's lacrosse team boasted five. The men's tennis and men's lacrosse teams both had four student-athletes honored.

A total of 498 student-athletes from all 10 CCC institutions were represented on the Academic All-Conference Team, which consists of any starter or significant reserve who has attained at least sophomore status and has maintained an overall minimum GPA of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00.
