Langadas, Sheehan Sweep CCC Weekly Awards

Second consecutive honor for Langadas, second award for Sheehan

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (Jan. 31) – Nichols College men's basketball player Matt Langadas has been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference Rookie of the Week for the second-straight week, and sophomore Ryan Sheehan was named Player of the Week for the second time this season, it was announced Tuesday. The pair led Nichols to a 2-0 week in conference games, defeating Curry and Western New England.
 
Sheehan opened the week in style by matching his career high with 37 points in a nail-biting 80-78 win at Curry. He shot 59% from the field and a hot 10-of-11 from the free-throw line in the game. He added 19 at home on Saturday against Western New England, including a 4-for-4 performance at the line in the final minute to keep the game in hand. On the week, he averaged 28 points to go with five rebounds, 2.5 assists and a steal per game.
 
Langadas kept his hot streak alive, scoring the game-winning layup with three seconds left in the game at Curry to cap and 18-point Bison comeback. He shot 55% from the field in the game, netting 11 points. At home against Western New England, Langadas was a major facet in the 77-69 win, scoring six points in under a minute to spark the Bison back into action in the second half and totaled 16 points in the game. On the week, he averaged 13.5 points, three rebounds, 1.5 assists, and a block per game, while he shot 58% from the field (11-of-19).
 
Winners of eight of their last 10 games, the Bison will look for the season sweep of Eastern Nazarene Tuesday night at home at 5:30 p.m. during “BISON PRIDE” night.
