Julie Monroe (Whitman, Mass.) has been named to the 2011 All-The Commonwealth Coast Conference Women's Lacrosse Team, it was announced Thursday by Commissioner Gregg M. Kaye. Monroe had an outstanding rookie campaign, leading the team in caused turnovers and groundballs.
Monroe started 10 of 11 TCCC games for the Bison, recording 20 caused turnovers while picking up 23 groundballs and 17 draw controls. She scored two goals on just three shots on net, netting scores against Anna Maria and Gordon. Monroe also corralled a season-high five draws against the Scots on March 29th. She had an outstanding game at Salve Regina on April 16, forcing a season-high five turnovers and picking up four groundballs.
Overall, Monroe started 14 of 15 games on the year and caused a team-high 27 turnovers while picking up a team-best 38 groundballs. Her 22 draw controls ranked third on the team.
Nichols (4-11, 3-8 TCCC) is set to travel to top-seeded Western New England for the TCCC quarterfinals Saturday. The Bison are making their second postseason appearance in the 11th year of the program.
