SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (Nov. 1) -- Nichols College junior back/midfielder
Emily Widdison has been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference and ECAC Division III Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week, it was announced Tuesday. Widdison collected 12 points in a tough week of conference games for the Bison.
Widdison was key in a dramatic 5-4 triumph over Western New England, on Thursday, netting four goals including the final three as Nichols came back from a 4-1 deficit to win the game. She had two other goals on the week against the top two teams in the conference, including the lone goal in a 2-1 loss to UNE and a tally in a 3-2 loss to Endicott.
Widdison leads the team and is second in the conference in points (31) and points per game (1.94). Her 0.88 goals per game leads the conference and she has scored four game-winning goals, good for second in the league.
Nichols makes its seventh-straight appearance in the CCC postseason Thursday when the third-seeded Bison travel to Biddeford, Maine to take on second-seeded University of New England at 4 p.m.
