DUDLEY, Mass. (Sept. 7) – A trio of Nichols College student-athletes have been honored by the The Commonwealth Coast Conference for superior weekly performances last week. Junior goalkeeper/midfielder Krista-Jean Forand (Plymouth, Mass.) was named the Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week, while goalkeeper Nicole Johnson (Westhampton, Mass.) took home the Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week award. Sophomore Jillian McQuiggan (Weymouth, Mass.) was named the Women's Tennis Player of the Week.

Forand tallied two saves en route to a shutout in the Bison's 8-0 victory in the season opener at Becker.  She topped off her defensive effort by switching to midfield in the match's final eight minutes and scoring Nichols' final goal of the game.

Johnson scooped up nine saves in the Bison's 4-1 victory over host Framingham State in the season opener. She kept a clean sheet for the first 72 minutes of the match.

McQuiggan opened the season in style, earning a pair of wins at the No. 2 singles position and teaming with Chelsey Miller (Salem, Conn.) to post two victories at first doubles.  In singles play, McQuiggan dropped just three games, as the Bison stormed to consecutive 9-0 victories over Rhode Island College and TCCC rival Curry.
