DUDLEY, Mass. (Sept. 6) – Junior WR Reggie Belizaire (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) and senior DE Patrick Gregory (Webster, N.Y.) have been named to the New England Football Conference Weekly Honor Roll, it was announced Sunday. Belizaire gave Nichols an early lead and set career highs in the Bison's season opener at Westfield State, while Gregory racked up the specialty stats, including a blocked PAT, to go with six tackles in Friday's game.
In his fourth career start, Belizaire made a five catches for 110 yards and a touchdown – all career bests. He gave Nichols the lead in the first quarter with a 37-yard snag under heavy coverage and finished week one ranking fifth in the league in yardage.
Gregory forced and recovered a fumble to set up the Bison's first scoring drive and later blocked the PAT after Westfield's second touchdown. He was key setting up Nichols' final 28-yard scoring drive of the night with a tackle for a loss of two yards that helped force the Owls to punt from their own nine-yard line. Gregory also had six tackles (four solo) on the night to rank fifth in the NEFC among linemen after week one.
Nichols (0-1) kicks off a three-game homestand this Friday in a 7 p.m. game against Framingham State (0-1) at Vendetti Field.
