WNEC Shoots Past Men's Lax, 15-1

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 7) – Matt Caulfield (Fairfield, Conn.) scored for Nichols College as the Bison fell to Western New England College, 15-1, in The Commonwealth Coast Conference men’s lacrosse action at Golden Bears Stadium Wednesday. Nichols falls to 2-7 overall and 1-5 in TCCC action.

Ryan Pacific (Danbury, Conn.) assisted Caulfield’s goal, which came late in the fourth quarter.

Scott Gray (Annapolis, Md.) made 20 saves through the first 53 minutes before giving way to Shahar Shatzberger (Peabody, Mass.), who stopped all four shots he faced in the remainder of the game.

WNEC held a 9-0 lead at halftime after scoring six times in the second quarter. The Golden Bears added four scores in the third quarter before trading goals in the final frame with the Bison.

Nichols hosts Endicott on Saturday at Vendetti Field for a 2 p.m. TCCC game.

Men's Lax Clinches Playoff Berth With 12-8 Senior Day Win vs. Curry

Seniors played a pivotal role in the Nichols College men's lacrosse team's 12-8 Senior Day victory over visiting Curry Saturday afternoon in the The Commonwealth Coast Conference regular-season finale. In a “win-and-in” situation for both teams, the Bison received 10 of 12 goals from seniors – including the first of the season from defender Patrick Mayo – to clinch the eighth and final spot in the upcoming TCCC Championship Tournament. Nichols will travel to face top-seeded Western New England in the TCCC quarterfinals on Saturday, April 30th at 7 p.m.
