Forand Named All-TCCC Honorable Mention

Krista-Jean Forand All-TCCC

DUDLEY, Mass. (April 30) -- Sophomore attacker Krista-Jean Forand (Plymouth, Mass.) was named to the 2010 The Commonwealth Coast Conference Honorable Mention Team, it was announced Friday by Commissioner Gregg M Kaye.

 

It was a record breaking season for the reigning TCCC Rookie of the Year, who set new single season program records with 53 goals, 12 assists and 65 points. Forand was fourth in the conference in goals per game with an average of 3.53 per contest and seventh with 4.33 total points per game. She scored in all but two games this season including two eight goal performances.

 

A 2008 graduate of Hebron Academy, Forand moves up to second all-time on the career points list at Nichols College with 111 and career goals with 89. She is now the program’s all-time leader in assists with 22.

 

The Bison finished the season 4-11, and 2-9 in the TCCC.

Top-seeded Western New England defeated eighth-seeded Nichols 15-8 in a quarterfinal round contest of The Commonwealth Coast Conference Women's Lacrosse Championship Saturday. Nichols, which received four goals from Krista-Jean Forand, ends the season at 4-12.

The Nichols College women's lacrosse team has qualified for the The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) championship tournament, which begins with quarterfinal round games on Saturday, April 30. The Bison, who were in a three-way tie for the eighth seed, earned the tournament's final berth via coin toss Monday afternoon. Nichols returns to the playoffs for the second time in program history and the first time since 2007, and will travel to top-seeded Western New England for a 4 p.m. game Saturday.

The Nichols College women's lacrosse team fell to Curry, 24-7, in the The Commonwealth Coast Conference regular-season finale for both teams Saturday afternoon on Vendetti Field. Nichols will await the result of a coin flip for the eighth and final seed in the TCCC Tournament with a 3-8 record. The winner of the coin flip between Nichols, New England College and University of New England will travel to top-seeded Western New England College for the quarterfinal round on Saturday, April 30.

The Nichols College women's lacrosse team posted a 20-11 The Commonwealth Coast Conference victory at Regis Wednesday afternoon. The Bison were led by six goals and an assist from first year attacker Toni Minelli (Newington, Conn.) and improve to 4-10 overall and 3-7 in the TCCC. Regis falls to 4-11 overall and 1-9 in conference games.

The Salve Regina University women's lacrosse team posted a 15-12 win over Nichols College in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) action Saturday afternoon at Gaudet Field. Chelsea Shaughnessy scored four times and won a game-high seven draw controls for the Bison, who slipped to 3-10 (2-7 TCCC).

The Rhode Island College women's lacrosse team scored the game-winning goal with 3:26 remaining to thwart a Nichols comeback in a 10-9 women's lacrosse victory Thursday afternoon at RIC Lacrosse Field. Krista-Jean Forand had four goals to lead the Bison. Toni Minelli and Emily Yourie each netted a pair.
