Men's Lax Falls To Curry, 15-4

MILTON, Mass.- Sophomore attack Evan Hammersely posted a career-high ten points on four goals and five assists to lead Curry past Nichols 15-4 on Saturday afternoon in Milton. With the win, the Colonels improve to 6-3 overall and 3-1 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference. The Bison fall to 2-6 overall and 1-4 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference.

Nichols got on the board first just 4:32 into the game on a goal by Macaulay Gillis (Northborough, MA). The Bison however would not score again until the fourth quarter as freshman Matthew Caulfield (Fairfield, CT) and junior Austin Healy (Westford, MA) scored back-to-back goals. Junior Ryan Pacific (Danbury, CT) would finish the scoring in the final two minutes of the game for Nichols.

Curry took a 9-1 lead in the first half as Hammersley scored one of his four goals on the day and four of his five assists.

Senior Paul Marchese and sophomore Sean Gallagher each enjoyed a day of scoring as Marchese found the back of the net four times and Gallagher five.

Sophomore Kyle Dilley and freshman Andrew Navoni each chipped in for a tally.

The Colonels outshot the Bison, 37-29 and had 37 groundballs to Nichols 28.

Nichols will travel to Western New England on Monday, April 5 for a TCCC match-up with a 7:00 p.m. start time. The Colonels will travel to the University of New England for a 4:00 p.m. game.

Seniors played a pivotal role in the Nichols College men's lacrosse team's 12-8 Senior Day victory over visiting Curry Saturday afternoon in the The Commonwealth Coast Conference regular-season finale. In a “win-and-in” situation for both teams, the Bison received 10 of 12 goals from seniors – including the first of the season from defender Patrick Mayo – to clinch the eighth and final spot in the upcoming TCCC Championship Tournament. Nichols will travel to face top-seeded Western New England in the TCCC quarterfinals on Saturday, April 30th at 7 p.m.
