WORCESTER, Mass. (April 20) -- The Nichols College golf team finished in a tie for sixth place at the Worcester State Invitational Tuesday, capping the Bison’s spring season. Nichols was led by first year Nick Deni (Enfield, Conn.), who placed tied for 11th on the individual leaderboard with a 77 (+5). As a team, the Bison shot a 327 at the event, held at the par-72, 6,655-yard Blackstone National Golf Club.
Trinity (CT) won the team title with a composite 298, led by individual medalist Dave Anderson, who finished with a two-under par 70.
Nichols senior Pat Pio (Somers, Conn.) finished two strokes back from Deni with a 70 to tie for 15th, while junior Josh Paulhus (Sutton, Mass.) tied for 27th with an 83 (+11). Bruce Carter, Jr. (Worcester, Mass.) was the final scoring member of the Bison squad in a tie for 47th place with an 88, while senior Shawn Santos (Agawam, Mass.) carded a 108 for a 78th place finish.
