DUDLEY, Mass. (April 19) – The Nichols College men’s tennis team set the program’s single-season wins record Monday afternoon with its 14th victory of the season, a 9-0 win over Colby-Sawyer College in a The Commonwealth Coast Conference match at the Francis W. Robinson Courts. The Bison improve to 8-1 in conference play, while the Chargers dip to 6-10 overall and even out at 4-4 in league action.

The Bison won for the 10th straight match at third doubles, with the tandem of Eliot Wuhrmann (Fontainbleau, France) and David Drucker (Bellmore, N.Y.) ousting Bryan Racz and Reeve Fidler without dropping a game.  The Wuhrmann-Drucker duo remains unbeaten in TCCC play (7-0).

Wuhrmann was the first singles finisher, besting Alexander Moore at the sixth flight, 6-1, 6-1, while Drucker finished out the match with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Adam Whitman at second singles for his 12th consecutive win.

Justin DeLuca (Mashpee, Mass.) continued his undefeated season with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Ben Dabush at the top flight to extend his single-season program-best record to 17-0. Sophomore Steve Carella (Rocky Hill, Conn.) handed Racz a 6-0, 6-1 loss at the third flight, while Tyler McLaughlin (Hollis, N.H.) got back in the win column with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Chris Lavoie at fourth singles. Dan Young (Washington Depot, Conn.) bested Rob Barnes 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5 singles to move to 6-0 in the TCCC.
