Golf Finishes 10th at Johnson & Wales Invite

CRANSTON, R.I. (April, 18) - New York University captured the 2010 Johnson & Wales University Wildcats Spring Invitational this weekend at the Cranston Country Club. NYU took the team title after shooting a 607 (303-304) over the par-71 course that measures 6,493 yards. Nichols finished in 10^th place with a two-day 657 (343, 314).

Junior Joshua Paulhus (Sutton, Mass.) paced the Bison with a two-day 161, cutting five strokes off of his opening round score to card a 78 (+7) on the final day and finish tied for 24^th (161). First year Nick Deni (Enfield, Conn.) also rallied on Sunday to post the best Bison round with a 77 after an opening-round 85 to finish tied for 30^th with a composite 162. Jon-Paul Chouinard (Natick, Mass.) and Matthew Quigley (Sturbridge, Mass.) tied for 45^th place in the 75-player field, both finishing with a two-day 167. Joe Gallagher (Hopewell Jct., N.Y.) rounded out the scoring in 66^th with a 178 (97-81).

New York University junior David Su (72-74) and Salem State senior Jeffrey Santora (75-71) tied for medalist honors with a 146 for the weekend. Santora took home the individual honors after winning a two-hole playoff.

Nichols concludes its spring season at the Worcester State Invitational at Blackstone Country Club on Tuesday.

Golf Moves Up Eight Spots to Finish 24th at NEIGA Championship

The Nichols College golf team moved up eight places after the opening round to finish 24th at the 77th Annual NEIGA Championship Tuesday. The Bison cut 25 strokes off their opening round score, finishing 12th among Division III teams. Kevin Wheeler won the bunker contest and Brian Sears carded one of the best second round scores of the 168-player field at two-over (74).

Golf 32nd After Round One at NEIGA Tournament

After the first day of play at the 77th Annual NEIGA Championship, the Nichols College golf team stands in a tie for 32nd place. Play continues Tuesday at the Captains Golf Course. Kevin Wheeler leads the Bison in a tie for 82nd in the 169-player field with an 81 (+9).

Sears Co-Medalist at 9th Annual Bison Invitational

Nichols College sophomore Brian Sears and Endicott College sophomore Nick Erlichman each carded a 74 (+2) to earn co-medalist honors of the 9th Annual Bison Invitational held Sunday at the par-72, 6,483-yard Green Hill Golf Course. Led by Sears, the Nichols White team finished fourth, while the Nichols Black team finished fifth in the seven-team event.

Wheeler Leads Golf to First Place Finish at Mitchell Invite

First year Kevin Wheeler took top individual honors and led the Nichols College men's golf team to a first place finish at the Mitchell Invitational held at Shennecossett Golf Course Wednesday afternoon. Wheeler finished with a 76 (+5) for his first top-place finish, two strokes ahead of his nearest competitor after posting the best score of the front nine. The Bison combined for a 331, finishing three strokes ahead of second-place Newbury.

Golf Ties for Seventh at ECAC DIII Championships

The Nichols College golf team finished tied for seventh place at the 2011 ECAC Division III New England Men's Golf Championship at par-72, 6,833-yard Hampden Country Club in Hampden, Mass. The event was shortened to one 18-hole round on Sunday after Saturday's opening round was washed out. The Bison were led by first year Kevin Wheeler, who finished tied for fifth place at two-over.

Weather Cancels Day One of ECAC Golf Championship

Round One of the 2011 ECAC Division III New England Men's Golf Championship at Hampden Country Club in Hampden, Mass., scheduled for a shotgun start at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 1 has been cancelled due to inclement weather. The championship has been reduced from 36-holes to 18-holes. The 18-hole championship round will be played on Sunday, October 2 at Hampden Country Club.

Golf Edged by Anna Maria in Home Quad 'B' Match

The Bison's Zach Kohn carded a 76, but Chris Gosselin of Anna Maria edged out the junior on the 16th hole by one stroke to take top individual honors in a quad 'B' golf match hosted by Nichols at the Dudley Hill Golf Couse Tuesday afternoon. The AMCATS took first place, finishing two strokes ahead of Nichols, which finished the day with a team score of 312.
