DUDLEY, Mass. (April 10) – First year attacker Kelly Tierney recorded six points on four goals and two assists to lead the Endicott College women’s lacrosse team to a 21-4 The Commonwealth Coast Conference victory over Nichols College at Vendetti Field Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Gulls remain undefeated in conference action and remain atop the standings with a 7-0 record; Endicott stands at 9-2 overall. Nichols, meanwhile, dips to 2-7 overall and 1-5 in league play.
Endicott sophomore midfielder Morgan DeShaw added two goals and three assists for five points, while classmate Kristen Micho chipped in with four on three goals and a helper. In total, seven Gulls players recorded multiple point games, and 12 struck the net, including first career goals from Stacia Geno, Caitlin Pratt and Gabrielle Boyle, who scored two.
Nichols found the net four times in the second half, getting all four from different players, including a first career marker from Ericka Silvia (Middletown, R.I.).
Nichols goalkeeper Mary Michaud (Agawam, Mass.) finished with 14 saves, including eight in the opening half. Endicott netminder Leah Neff stopped two shots, both in the opening frame.
The Gulls scored the opening goals 22 seconds apart and led, 3-0, after five minutes of play en route to a 14-0 halftime lead after netting three goals in five minutes to close the opening period.
Silvia struck first for Nichols in the second half with a slow roller at 3:46, and the teams traded free position goals after that.
Endicott scored the next two for a 17-2 lead at the 16:33 mark, but Nichols’ Brittany Tremont (Guilford, Conn.) and Chelsea Shaughnessy (Halifax, Mass.) traded scores with the Gulls before the visiting team ended the game on a 3-0 run.
Endicott held a 41-10 shot advantage in the game and won the groundball battle by a 24-14 margin. Nichols did convert on both of its free position attempts, while Endicott was 3-for-6.
Nichols is back in action on Tuesday when the Bison host Gordon in a 7 p.m. TCCC game. Endicott hosts Colby-Sawyer Tuesday in a 4 p.m. conference tilt.
