BOSTON, Mass. (Feb. 7) – Senior forward Jeff Olitch recorded his second hat trick of the season, while freshman defenseman Shaun Jameson had a pair of goals and an assist as the Wentworth hockey team won its fifth straight game by scoring six power-play goals in a 6-1 win over Nichols in an ECAC Northeast contest played at Matthews Arena.

Olitch got the Leopards on the board first when he tapped home a pass from freshman forward Anthony Principato at 13:37.  The score would remain 1-0 in Wentworth’s favor at the end of one.  Nichols, which at one point held a 10-1 shot advantage, outshot the Leopards, 11-9, after one period of play.

The Bison tied the game up at 3:45 of the middle frame when junior forward Will Munson (Corona, Calif.) put home a shot to the right side after being set up in front by freshman forward Zach Kohn (Hartland, Wis.) and sophomore defenseman Kevin Richardson (Temecula, Calif.).

However, Wentworth quickly responded to take a 2-1 lead when Olitch fed Shaun Jameson, whose shot from the left face-off circle found the back of the net at 5:25.  Junior defenseman Kyle Richardson  put the Leopards ahead 3-1with a shot from the right side, which was assisted by freshman defenseman Dylan Barbieri. Shaun Jameson would round out the second period scoring on a goal which was assisted by his brother Skylur with 8.4 seconds left.

Olitch completed the hat trick with two goals in the third period.  The first was an unassisted tally 8:28, while the second came from Principato and Shaun Jameson at 10:32.

Freshman Michael Jarboe made 26 saves to improve to 7-0-0 on the season for the 15th-ranked Leopards.  Freshman Ryan Casey (Pelham, N.H.) made 25 stops for the Bison, who were outshot by a 31-27 margin.

The win improves Wentworth’s record to 17-2-1 overall and 9-1 in ECAC Northeast play.  The Leopards are at Suffolk on Thursday night.  Nichols sees its six-game win streak come to an end, falling to 12-7-2 overall and 6-4 in league play.  The Bison host Curry on Wednesday night for Black Out Night.
