HARTFORD, Conn. (Feb. 6)  Junior defender Laura Komarek scored a goal and tallied three assists to lead the No. 6 Trinity College Bantams to a 6-1 victory over the visiting Nichols College Bison in women’s ice hockey action this evening at Williams Rink.  Trinity improves to 15-3-2 overall while the Bison drop to 2-14-3.

The Trinity offense rifled off 42 shots as six different Bantams found the back of the net.  Komarek opened the game with a goal midway through the first period before Nichols sophomore Cheryl Pitts (Wakefield, Mass.) was able to tie the game at 1-1 midway through the following period.  Trinity would end the second period with three straight scores, started by a power play goal, the eventual game-winner, by sophomore Payson Sword.  The Bantams would add two more goals in the third.

Trinity first-year goalkeeper Beth Hitchcock made 16 saves to earn her third win in as many career starts, while allowing her first goal of the season.  Nichols senior Melissa Mansfield (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) made 36 saves in net for the Bison.

Nichols returns to Levy Rink for a five-game homestand to close out the regular season, starting with a 7:30 p.m. ECAC East game against Southern Maine on Friday, February 12.
