WENHAM, Mass. (Feb. 6) – The Nichols College women’s basketball team shot 56% from the field and controlled play throughout, rolling to an 80-60 defeat over Gordon at the Bennett Center on Saturday. The win – the third in a row - moves the Bison to 11-9 overall and 4-5 in TCCC play. Gordon drops to 9-12, and stands at 2-7 in conference action.

Leading 11-6 early in the first half, Nichols went on an 18-3 run to take total command of the game. The Bison were in front 44-24 at the break, courtesy of the strong inside play of Jessica Nelson (No. Providence, R.I.) and sharp outside shooting from Ashley Robidoux (Milford, Mass.). Gordon sophomore Heather DeKleine put up 15 points in the first half, on her way to a game high 24, but it wasn't enough to pull the Scots close.

Nelson finished with 21 points as she continued to show off an assortment of post moves in the second half, while Robidoux had 13. Lyndsey Bennett (No. Brookfield, Mass.) was the third Bison player in double figures as she finished with 12 points. As a team, Nichols dished out 18 assists, led by four from Bennett, who also had five steals, and four from Jamy Ferris (Windsor, Mass.).

Kim Levinsky drilled 5 more 3-pointers for Gordon, running her 3-game total to 21. She finished with 16 points including an exciting 4-point play in the first half, while Rebecca Carroll chipped in with 11 points.

Gordon will go on the road Tuesday when they face Colby-Sawyer at 5:30PM in New London, NH. Nichols will play at Wentworth at 5:30PM on Tuesday.
