Marlborough, Mass. (Feb. 3) - Nichols College spoiled a second period rally from Becker College, as the Bison defeated the Hawks 3-2 in ECAC Northeast men’s hockey action.

Nichols got on the board 18:00 into the first period when Eric Cremer (Chelsea, Mich.) scored an unassisted goal. The Bison added to their lead 1:08 later when Andrew Ella (Schomberg, Ontario.) scored on assists from Zach Hendrickson (Farmingdale, NY) and Bryan Gill (New Hyde Park, NY).

Becker soared back in the second period with two quick goals. The first goal was scored by Branden Parkhouse off a drop pass from Patrick Bellew. The Hawks tied the game when Bellew scored on a penalty shot 23 seconds later. Nichols scored the eventual game winner at 9:52 when Matt Sayer (Lowell, Mass.) scored his 10th goal of the season on an assist from Zeke Costello (Shelby Township, Mich.).

Nichols goalie Jacob Rinn (Warwick, RI) made 29 saves in the victory. The Bison are now 12-6-2 overall and 6-3 in the ECAC Northeast. Becker goalie Jake Rosenthal made 35 saves in the loss. The Hawks fall to 8-10-1 overall and 4-5 in the ECAC Northeast. The Bison are back in action Sunday when they travel to Wentworth for an ECAC Northeast match up.

Joe Sposit had a pair of goals and an assist in a span of 1:57 to help lift the Bison past Becker on Saturday afternoon. Zach Kohn and Mike Schiavone also found the back of the net for Nichols. Senior goalie Jacob Rinn stopped 21 shots in the contest while Nichols outshot Wentworth 26-24 and capitalized on a 5-on-3 power play opportunity. Louie Educate scored the first Bison goal and later provided the game-winning goal with 7:05 remaining in the contest to help lead the Bison to a 5-3 win Saturday night. Greg Strootman, Zach Hendrickson and Andrew Letellier joined Educate with a goal each. Jacob Rinn stopped 26 shots for Nichols. The squad continues a three-game homestand on Wednesday when the Bison host Salve Regina at 8:10 p.m.
