Costello Named ECAC Northeast Player of the Week

CAPE COD, Mass. (Feb. 22) – Nichols College senior forward Zeke Costello (Shelby Township, Mich.) has been named the ECAC Northeast Hockey League Player of the Week for games ending Sunday, February 21. Costello led Nichols to an unbeaten week with seven points on a goal and six assists.

The Bison's career assists leader with 94 in 94 career games played, Costello had three helpers in the Bison's 5-2 victory at Western New England College on Thursday. He then factored in every goal in Nichols' comeback tie at Johnson & Wales on Sunday, netting a short-handed goal and assisting on three other scores, including two power-play markers.

On the season, the former member of the Traverse City North Stars (NAHL) has four goals and 21 assists for 25 points in just 18 games. With 115 career points on 21 goals and 94 assists, Costello stands in seventh place on the Bison's all-time scoring charts.

Nichols finished the regular season with a 13-9-3 overall record and a 7-6-1 conference mark, and will be on the road for the ECAC Northeast quarterfinals for the first time since the 2006-07 season. The Bison await their final seeding, which will be decided Tuesday evening in the conference's final regular-season game between Johnson & Wales and Becker. The ECAC Northeast quarterfinals are slated for Saturday, February 27th.
