The Nichols College men’s ice hockey team skated to a 4-4- tie with Johnson & Wales Sunday afternoon in overtime. Nichols stands at 13-9-1 overall and 7-6-1 in ECAC Northeast games after concluding its regular season; the Bison now await the conference tournament pairings, which will be released after the final game on the  ECAC Northeast’s slate, scheduled for Tuesday, February 23rd.

Senior Zeke Costello (Shelby Township, Mich.) factored in on all the scoring for the Bison with a goal and three assists, while Matt Sayer (Lowell, Mass.) had an assist and two goals – including the game-tying score in the second frame.

The Bison trailed, 3-0, after the first period due to three power-play goals on five opportunities by the Wildcats. Nichols responded with four tallies in the second, including a short-handed core by Costello and a power-play marker from classmate Eric Cremer (Chelsea, Mich.) to knot the game by the second intermission.

Neither team could score through the final 25 minutes of action, and Nichols goaltender Jacob Rinn (Warwick, R.I.) made a pair of saves in the extra frame to keep the Wildcats out of the win column. Rinn finished with 24 saves.

Nichols will await the seedings announcement for its quarterfinal matchup scheduled for February 27th
