Pio Named a PING All-American
Pat Pio

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Nichols College junior Pat Pio (Somers, Conn.) has been named to the PING All-America Third Team, it was announced Monday. He is one of only two New England players to earn All-America honors, after leading the Bison to a record-setting season.

Pio took home top medalist honors in five of nine fall tournaments, and added four silver medalist finishes in his 14 total tournaments on the year. He led Nichols to top team finishes in eight events, and to the Division III title at the New England Golf Association Championship, where the Bison placed fourth overall among all three divisions – the best finish ever at the championship. Pio, who finished in the top eight in every tournament this season, also guided Nichols to a runner-up finish at the The Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship with silver medalist honors.

Previously named to the PING Northeast All-Region team in 2008, Pio is a three-time NEIGA All-New England honoree. This spring he was named the Nichols College Men’s Outstanding Junior Athlete, and in 2008 he was named the College’s recipient of the William Horrigan-Bud Sessions Award for Outstanding Male Sophomore Athlete.
