Lombardo, Robidoux Named All-TCCC
2009 Softball All-TCCC

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Nichols College softball players Lauren Lombardo (Wolcott, Conn.) and Ashley Robidoux (Milford, Mass.) have been named to the 2009 All-The Commonwealth Coast Conference Softball Second Team, as announced by Commissioner Gregg M. Kaye.

Lombardo, a junior catcher, batted .297 while starting all 38 games in which she played behind the plate. She led the team with five home runs and collected five doubles among her team-leading 33 hits while driving in 16 runs. She also led the team with 214 putouts and a .982 fielding percentage. Lombardo posted a seven-game hitting streak from March 31-April 5, during which she hit .462 with three home runs and nine RBI. She closed out the season on a five-game hit streak, hitting safely in every TCCC Championship Tournament game. The award marks the second of her career; she was named All-TCCC Honorable Mention in 2008.

A sophomore outfielder playing in her first season, Robidoux led the team with 20 RBI while batting .312. She hit four home runs and two doubles in her 24 hits and led the team with a .494 slugging percentage. She was named the TCCC Rookie of the Week on April 27th after leading the Bison to a doubleheader sweep of New England College with a pair of home runs – including a grand slam – to earn the seventh seed in the TCCC Championship Tournament. Over the final six games of the season, Robidoux’s bat was key as she hit .400 with 10 RBI and three home runs. In the double-elimination portion of the TCCC Championship Tournament, she went 5-for-11 with four RBI and a home run.

Nichols wrapped up the season with a 17-24 overall record including a 13-12 TCCC ledger. The Bison went 2-2 in the TCCC Championship Tournament, including upset wins over University of New England and Roger Williams.
