Nichols College Athletics

Nichols College junior Tim Smith (Plainfield, Conn.) has been named to the 2009 All-The Commonwealth Coast Conference Baseball Team, as announced by Commissioner Gregg M. Kaye. Smith posted a perfect 6-0 record on the season in nine appearances and boasted the league’s lowest ERA at 2.00. Smith earned two shutouts with five complete games in six starts this season, and also picked up a save.

BRISTOL, R.I.- Led by a one-hit shutout from junior Dan Roberge, the third-seeded Roger Williams University baseball team defeated seventh-seeded Nichols, 3-0, in an elimination round game of the 2009 The Commonwealth Coast Conference Baseball Championship Friday. Sophomore Austin Martin (Wakefield, R.I.) singled up the middle in the fifth inning for the Bison's lone hit of the game, 

The seventh-seeded Nichols College baseball team held on for a 5-4 victory over sixth-seeded Wentworth in an elimination round game of the 2009 The Commonwealth Coast Conference Baseball Tournament Wednesday afternoon. The Bison (17-19) advance to face third-seeded Roger Williams in Bristol, R.I. Friday in an elimination round game. Nichols scored the leadoff batter in each of the first five innings, including a solo home run in the fifth from designated hitter Chris Nemeskal (Swampscott, Mass.). Junior pitcher Tim Smith (Plainville, Conn.), improved to 6-0 on the season with a complete-game six-hitter.
