Munson, Kohn Earn Weekly Honors from ECAC Northeast

CAPE COD, Mass. (Dec. 1) – Nichols College forwards Will Munson (Corona, Calif.) and Zach Kohn (Hartland, Wis.) have been named the ECAC Northeast Player and Rookie of the Week for play ending Sunday, November 29th, it was announced Tuesday. The award marks the first of the season for Munson and the second-straight for Kohn.

Munson finished the week with 11 points with three goals and eight assists and was named to the Skidmore Invitational All-Tournament Team. He started off a 2-1 week for Nichols by tying a school record for assists in a game with six in a win at Stonehill. At the Skidmore Invitational, he factored in all three goals in the Bison's opening-round overtime win over the host Thoroughbreds, forcing OT with one of his two goals, and assisting on the game-winner in the extra session. He sparked Nichols' scoring in the championship game with a second period goal, finishing with a goal and an assist.

Kohn totaled 12 points in three games for the Bison with six goals and six assists as Nichols went 2-1 on the week. Kohn had four goals and three assists in an 8-6 win over Stonehill.  In the opening round of the Skidmore Invitational, Kohn factored in all three Nichols goals and scored the game-winner in overtime to lift the Bison to a 3-2 win over the host Thoroughbreds. In the championship game against Brockport, he had a power-play goal and an assist.

The pair packed a powerful offensive punch last week and lead the ECAC Northeast in point production. Kohn, a former player for the New England Falcons (EJHL), has totaled eight goals and nine assists for a league-best 17 points. His 2.43 points per game leads the nation's rookies and ranks fourth among all skaters. A former member of the Seguin Bruins (CCHL), Munson stands right behind Kohn in the conference standings with 13 points on three goals and 10 assists, and ranks 16th nationally with 1.29 assists per game.
