Dudley, Mass. (Nov. 9) – Nichols College field hockey players Chelsea Correia (Seekonk, Mass.), Amber Cottrell (Hoosick Falls, N.Y.), and Krista-Jean Forand (Plymouth, Mass.) have earned weekly honors from the Commonwealth Coast Conference, it was announced Monday by Commissioner Gregg M. Kaye. Correia, a forward, was named the Offensive Player of the Week, Cottrell, a back, was named the Defensive Player of the Week, and Forand, a goalkeeper, was named the Rookie of the Week. The honor marks the first on the season for Correia and Cottrell, and the sixth for Forand.

The TCCC Championship marks the second conference title in program history for Nichols, and the first since 1995 when the Bison defeated Regis 2-1 in a double overtime game. The Bison take their program record 18-3 record into the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history on Wednesday, November 11th, at 4 PM versus MIT on Vendetti Field.

Correia registered her first career hat trick in the TCCC Championship match, a 4-1 win over New England College. Correia also notched a goal in the semifinal round in a 3-1 victory over the University of New England, picking up the game-winner in both tournament games for the Bison. Correia now stands with 38 points on 18 goals and two assists on the season.

Cottrell helped the Bison advance to their first ever NCAA tournament in program history, contributing a pair of assists against New England College in the championship game. Cottrell and the Bison defense held the Pilgrims and Nor'easters to a goal each in the championship and semifinal round of play.

Forand made a total of 15 saves on the Bison's run to their first ever NCAA championship appearance. Forand made seven saves in a 3-1 win over the University of New England, and followed up with eight saves in the championship game against New England College.
