BEVERLY, Mass. (Oct. 31) – TCCC Player of the Year Caitlin Flynn factored in on all three Endicott goals as the Gulls defeated Nichols College, 3-0, in a The Commonwealth Coast Conference Quarterfinal contest on Saturday afternoon in Beverly, Mass. The Blue and Green extend their nation-long consecutive minutes scoreless streak to 900:00, as the Gulls have posted nine-straight shutouts and did not surrender a single goal in the month of October.

Endicott wasted little time getting on the board in the first half as the Gulls took a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute. Senior Caitlin Flynn put a well-placed corner kick into the middle of the box where sophomore Colleen Pepin connected with a header into the lower-left corner for her 13th goal of the season.

Flynn struck again in the 36th minute as she put forth an individual effort to double the Endicott advantage. Flynn created a turnover at the 30-yard line and dribbled past two Nichols’ defenders to split free on a breakaway. The senior froze Bison goalkeeper Nicole Johnson (Westhampton, Mass.) and then buried a shot into the lower-left corner for the 2-0 advantage.

The Gulls put the game out of reach just 1:01 later as the combination of Pepin and Flynn connected again to make it a three goal game. Flynn, who helped create a two-on-two break, feathered a pass to Pepin on the doorstep who redirected the feed past a sprawling Nicole Johnson to send the game into halftime with the Gulls ahead, 3-0.

The cushion was all Endicott would need as the Gulls held possession for much of the remainder of the game before taking the 3-0 victory. Nichols’ best chance on the day came with 2:22 remaining as a header from TCCC Rookie of the Year Samantha Abro (Northbridge, Mass.) sailed just right of the Endicott goal.

Caitlin Flynn finished the day with a goal and two assists, while Colleen Pepin notched two goals in the victory. Amy Meuse helped keep the shutout streak intact with four saves. Endicott outshot Nichols 30-6 and held a 9-1 advantage in corner opportunities.

The Gulls (15-4) will play host to cross-town rival Gordon College for a TCCC Semifinal on Wednesday night. Nichols stands at 10-9 on the year.
