Football Team 09

DUDLEY, Mass. (Oct. 26) – The start time for the Nichols College football team’s home game against Curry on Saturday, October 31, has been pushed back to 2:15 p.m., it was announced today. The change is to accommodate the field hockey team’s The Commonwealth Coast Conference quarterfinal game against Gordon at 11 a.m. on Vendetti Field.

Nichols (4-4, 3-2 NEFC Boyd) looks to continue its winning ways at home where the Bison have not lost since the opening game of the season. Nichols will also look to snap a seven-game losing streak to the Colonels (6-2, 5-0 NEFC Boyd).

Leading the way for the Bison is sophomore QB Sean Smith-Vaughan (Cumberland, Maine), who earned a spot on the NEFC Weekly Offensive Honor Roll after a 233-yard passing performance in the Bison’s 13-10 comeback win at UMass-Dartmouth last Saturday. Smith-Vaughan connected with senior WR Mike Seiger (Pittsfield, Mass.) with 4:27 left in the game on a 16-yard pass to give Nichols its fourth win of the year and third win in conference action.

Senior DL Bill Hassett (Oxford, Mass.) led the Nichols defense with nine tackles last week, helping the Bison to hold the Corsairs to just 208 yards of total offense – the lowest total allowed by Nichols on the year. Hassett ranks ninth in the NEFC with 54 tackles (19 solo) in just six games.
