SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Nichols College men’s soccer forward David Johnson (Canterbury, Conn.) has earned All-Conference accolades from The Commonwealth Coast Conference, it was announced Friday by Commissioner Gregg M. Kaye. Johnson, a first-year student who leads the Bison with 26 points in 18 games this season, was named to the Honorable Mention team.
With 11 goals on the season, Johnson leads the team and ranks third in the league, and his 26 points also place him third among his league counterparts. Johnson is averaging 1.53 points per game, and has led the Bison to an 8-4-1 record when scoring a point.
Johnson was tabbed the TCCC Rookie of the Week on October 13 after lifting Nichols to a 1-0 overtime victory over league foe New England College in the 105th minute of the game.
Nichols (9-8-1, 6-6-1), which earned the seventh seed in the TCCC Championship Tournament, will travel to second-seeded Roger Williams (10-4-3, 9-1-3) for an 11 a.m. Saturday quarterfinal matchup. In the two teams’ last meeting on October 4 in Dudley, Mass., it took more than 101 minutes for the Hawks to prevail, 2-1.
